Coachella

We worked with one of our amazing clients to create a super top secret uber VIP experience at COACHELLA this year. We had an opportunity to have a presence in the Friends and Family area of the festival over the first weekend—which is strictly reserved for artists and usually no brands are invited. It becomes a total party where people BBQ, drink, play and listen to music and chill in the hot Coachella Valley air.

We decided to set up an airstream with the clients product inside for demo but because of the top secret nature we had no branding. It was all about the VIBE. The airstream from RENT AN AIRSTREAM was 25 feet long and also doubled as sleeping quarters for staff. We did a HUGE Costco run buying up the best ingredients for the perfect BBQ and then added in our personal design touches to make it welcoming complete with tea lights, bean bag toss, lounge areas and more.

Hundreds of people came through over the weekend despite the heat and enjoyed cocktails and dreams on us!

Black and White Nursery

We had a very special arrival in May, the birth of our son, and we wanted his nursery to reflect our design aesthetic with a little more flair!

Departing from the typical boys room colors of blue we decided to use the palette of black, white and gold. Understanding that black isn’t a typical color associated with a nursery we decided to play off the concept of the “rising sun” and incorporate our version of that onto the main wall. We wanted to make it look like sun rays coming from the crib.  We didn’t want to use black/white stripes everywhere so there are dots, chevron and squares to give different textures.

We immediately fell in love with a teepee idea and picked up the LAND OF NOD black/white stripe teepee which also doubles as a great storage solution for toys and stuffed animals. My husband and I are really into the surf and skate culture here in Southern California and wanted to display that in some way. We took old skateboards and painted them white and used them as shelves adding our favorite books and animals on them. We also found these great hand drawn posters of all the Surf Breaks in California by MINI AND MAXIMUS and framed them. Adding the gold dot decals was a no brainer to add a softer element to the room and they matched the gold confetti curtains across the room.

We wanted to keep the rest of the room very modern and simple so the crib (BABYLETTO) and baby dresser (Land Of Nod) are smooth and clean.

The Teen Project

We were so honored when THE TEEN PROJECT committee came to CC Events wanting us to handle their planning and decor for a charity event in March. The Teen Project supports and guides teens who have recently graduated from the foster care system who have no family and no place to go. The project offers free room and board and full college support to ensure no one ends up on the street.

CC Events was tasked with coming up with the theme and decor direction and we put our whole hearts into this great cause. Seeing as these young adults, mostly women, don’t have much to look forward to we knew we wanted the event to be cheerful. The theme we landed on was “Sparkle and Shine” and all elements reflected that ethos. From inflatable swans in the pool to sparkly tables and bright and cheerful gift bags and runway accessories everything sure shined bright!!

The event was held on the roof of the Westin South Coast Plaza and a silent auction kicked off the event. From there it led to an all teen Fashion Show with some of the girls from Teen Project as models. South Coast Plaza donated all the clothing with designer looks from Diana Von Furstenberg, Anthropologie, Free People, Saks and more. We also had game booths where guests could win prizes from Vans, Stance Socks, Birthday Gram and more and all money was donated to the charity. It was a great night and we raised over $25,000 for The Teen Project.

Hitched in the Desert

We love working with couples to create their perfect wedding and when we met Anisha and Donovan we were thrilled to be a part of their big day. Recent transplants from New York City they wanted to provide a beautiful backdrop for their wedding and what better place to do that then in Palm Springs. Sourcing the Venue wasn’t hard as INDIAN WELLS COUNTRY CLUB provides all the charm of “Old Palm Springs” combined with natural and beautiful landscape.

We worked with the couple to secure all their vendors and guide them through their design choices as well as organize the whole event. Turning to the brides Indian roots we settled on a bright palette of Wild Beet and White with hints of gold all with the help from ARTISAN EVENTS amazing florals. The grooms Creole background shined through in the cuisine which was Gumbo and Crayfish.

The couple, who are highly creative, love movies so “Hitched in the Desert” become their “movie” name and movies became an underlying theme throughout the whole wedding. Their Save the Date was designed as a movie poster, escort cards were movie tickets and the photobooth, courtesy of SMILEBOOTH, was their own personal red carpet complete with the gold statue himself, Oscar.

Grammy Week

We love learning about new bands over here at CC Events so we were thrilled when one of our favorite clients PANDORA asked us to be a part of their Grammy Week activation. As you can imagine rounding up bands to be involved in events during Grammy Week can be quite the task but Pandora nailed it when they signed on Hiatus Kaiyote. Nominated for Best R+B Performance this quartet from Australia have soulful lyrics and powerful tunes. CC Events was blown away when we saw them perform live.

Gaining massive popularity, due in part to their Grammy nod, the lines started forming at 3:30pm even though doors didn’t open until 7pm. To show our appreciation we allowed the first ten in line to come and meet the band and take pictures before the doors were officially opened. The fans were stoked and that made us really happy.

The performance went on without a hitch and can we also comment on how cool and nice the members of Hiatus were! We loved them…..and we love working with Pandora!

99 Problems BUT Jay-Z ain’t one

CC Events was honored to be asked to host Jay-Z’s Magna Carter crew for a night of cocktails and dreams. His “roadies” as they are often referenced, are on the road for most of the year traveling from city to city setting up and striking sets and stages for the mega superstar.

The whole crew was in LA in December for Jay’s Staples Center concert and they had 1 day off!!! Here is where CC Events jumped in. Hosting them in an art gallery turned music venue in Hollywood the crew of 70 were shuttled in from their hotel and treated to good music, passed food courtesy of BITE CATERING and tons of cocktails.

Lets just say Queen B Beyonce didn’t make an appearance but there were plenty of Independent Women (and men) dancing into the wee hours.
